“Learning to Love One Another Through Endeavoring to Understand Hard Things”

Objective/Call to Action

The Savior is patient with us when we don’t comprehend his doctrine perfectly, how can we talk about difficult topics we don’t fully understand?

Quote

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13

Activity Ideas

Homebased

Select a “difficult” topic from the Church’s Topic and Questions webpage (e.g. Race and the Priesthood, Plural Marriage, Mother in Heaven, etc.) and have a family / ministering brother or sister discussion on this topic. When having this discussion remember our objective to love one another regardless of individual points of view.

Understand church policy on moral issues by reviewing the Church Handbook of Instructions 38.6.

Review Elder Dale G. Rendlund’s talk “The Peace of Christ Abolishes Enmity

Review Elder Isaac K. Morrison’s talk “We Can Do Hard Things Through Him.”

Church Supported

Consider having a Relief Society or Priesthood lesson discussing a topic from the Topic and Questions webpage and practice your skills of listening to understand rather than to respond.
