Draper Utah Stake Members,
Over the course of the past year the stake presidency has felt spiritual promptings regarding how we can better help the members of our stake follow the Savior’s divine command to love our “neighbors as ourselves”. In following this spiritual intuition, we convened a group of members from each of your wards and counseled with them about this important issue. After many meetings and hours of productive discussion this group has developed the Draper Stake Love One Another Initiative. This is a yearlong initiative that we hope will translate to a lifetime mindset shift. The program includes home based, and church supported tools that can help each of us stay focused on our responsibility, as disciples of Jesus Christ, to love ALL our spiritual brothers and sisters.
An outline of the structure of the initiative for 2025 is attached to this email and can also be found on the initiative’s website at www.love-one-another.org. You will see that each month includes a monthly theme, quote, several activity ideas, and an objective/call to action. You will see posters displayed in each of our meetinghouse lobbies, which will remind us of these monthly areas of focus. Each poster will have a QR code that members can scan to link electronically to the full yearly outline. We will also be providing monthly hard copy handouts that will contain many of the details of that month’s theme and area of focus. One of the key components of this initiative will be a weekly email/text of a scripture that has been specially selected to provide us with an example of people demonstrating love to one another, which will remind us of our obligation to love as Jesus did.
Here is where we need your help! While stake leaders and ward councils can build the framework of a “program”, it will only become transformative if you and your family choose to use these tools. We urge each of the members of our stake to embrace the principles in this initiative and use them to take your loving one another game to the next level. While this initiative will last for one year, our hope and prayer is that the experiences you have, by utilizing the tools of the program, will facilitate a fundamental shift in how you think about what it means to love others like the Savior loves us.
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we are covenant making and keeping people. Our prayer is that we will all remember our covenant to follow the Savior Jesus Christ and heed His call to truly “love our neighbors as ourselves”. We bear our witness that if we will embrace this sacred call to action from the Master, that not only will those in our communities be blessed through our love and service, but we will individually partake in the love of God that always accompanies a demonstration of our love for our fellow beings.
